Here are some coaching links that may be helpful for the start of the 2020-21 season.
USA Hockey Registration
Background Check
usahockey.com/backgroundscreen
Screens for members who were last screened through their Affiliate after April 1, 2019, for the 2019-20 season, will be valid for the 2020-21 season, and will not need to be redone under the new system until prior to the 2021-22 season. If a member’s most recent screen is from prior to April 1, 2019, the member, if in a position that requires a background screen, will need to be screened under the new system in order to participate in the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Beware there is a $30 charge for the background screen! You might check with your association to see if they reimburse for this or not. The screenings are good for two seasons.
SafeSport
usahockey.com/safesporttraining
SafeSport is now a yearly requirement. There is a core course followed by three refresher courses. So every fourth year, one must take the core course again.
USA Hockey Coaching Modules
usahockey.com/agespecificmodules
The appropriate age level module must be completed prior to being added to a roster. These do not expire, so if done in the past do not need to redo.
Coaching Education Program (CEP)
Coaching classes are virtual for the time being. Levels 1-4 will be offered in this manner, though not all are posted yet.
You can attend a class in any state.
Concussion Training
(pick only one course too complete)
https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html
https://nfhslearn.com/courses/concussion-in-sports-2
Yearly requirement per Colorado State law.
If a coach does not have these completed they will not be allowed to be added to the roster.
